This book is based on the Courage to heal by the same authors. It was published after the Courage to heal and appears to be a cut down version of it. I feel that it probably a better starting point than the Courage to heal for Survivors as it focuses on the issues and does not give too many personal accounts. From speaking to survivors I have found that many of them have found accounts from others to be distressing when they are beginning their healing. However professionals could well benefit from seeing the range of stories and their effects on individuals.
