Advantages: Page turner, hard to put down

Disadvantages: disappointing ending, would be good to know if there's a sequel

I had never heard of Kevin Brooks before buying this book but I will certainly look at some of his other books now. This is a few years old and one in a quite a big range of books that he has written.

This story is about a sixteen year old guy called Robert, he is an orphan living with foster parents. One day he goes to the hospital for a endoscope procedure as they think he has an ulcer. Next thing he knows he is being operated on and he is conscious but can't move. He hears the doctors saying how he is messed up and how he isn't human and we follow him as he goes on the run.

I rather enjoyed this book, it's a good page-turner but that is a problem with it, it builds and builds and then in the end we know as much as we did as we did in the start. It is written well and the characters are good. I would recommend this but be prepared to be disappointed at the ending.

Summary: Good read but you'll be disappointed by the ending
