Paradise Fields - Katie Fforde

Premium Review Trouble in Paradise! (558 words)
by kingfisher111 - written on 08/01/07 (Very useful, 123 readings)
Rating:

I have read a few books by Katie Fforde and have always found them light and enjoyable reads. Paradise Fields was no exception and was just the right book to wind down with over Christmas! The story centres around Nel, a fairly young widow with three teenaged children. She has a busy life involved with many things in her village, not least her attempts to set up a local farmers market and her fundraising for the local children s hospice. She even has a little love interest in the form of Simon, a local estate agent (say no more!) who in the eyes of her children is predictable, dull and bossy, even if he is useful around the house. So all is well in the village until ...

Highland Fling - Katie Fforde

Premium Review HAVING A FLING IN THE HIGHLANDS...! (582 words)
by katestuartuk - written on 17/07/06 (Useful, 41 readings)
Rating:

Katie Fforde Highland Fling Published by Arrow Books I can actually claim to have every book Katie Fforde has ever had published. Which is quite a feat for me! I like her style, I like her humour, and I like her characters, which means in turn that I like every book she publishes, and what is more, I know I’m going to like it before I even buy it! Her stories aren’t deeply philosophical, her characters are no more or less complicated than you or I, but there’s just something about they way they pull you in, with the ease of reading and the simplicity and everyday-lifeness of them that means you pick them up and can’t put them down again! Highland Fling was the first ...

Highland Fling - Katie Fforde

Premium Review a nice lightweight read (385 words)
by cheryl59 - written on 23/09/08 (Very useful, 32 readings)
Rating:

Even when you just see the spine of this book on the bookshelf, it screams « chicklit » at you - the pink cover, the heart, the flower, the idea of romance ... So I must admit, I wasn't expecting anything special out of this book apart from the usual frothy, hopefully funny, frivolous, lightweight reading that chicklit offers. The quote on the front, apparently from Choice magazine, says "The ideal summer read" and it did indeed find itself tucked away in my suitcase when we headed off for some lazing in the sun this summer. And it did live up to my expectations, in the good and bad sense of the word ! There are absolutely no surprises or suspense, so nothing to keep ...
