This book is one of the best books on birds of Europe on the market. It's very new, being first published in 2007 after several years of research. It's an extremely comprehensive volume, covering all of the birds of Europe in impressive detail. This is not a small book. It is 30 x 23 x 4.5 cm and weighs over 5lb! Clearly it's not designed as a guide to be taken out into the field (unless you're doing weight training!), but to be perused at home to understand the habits and appearance of birds seen or likely to be seen on a walk.
