As a big fan of Armstrong's body of work, I'm delighted to see that all his familiar trademarks are here - a gripping opening scene, fast paced narrative and intriguing characters. The story begins with Gregory Samsa, a cop, losing control of his car after he swerves to avoid an animal in the middle of the road, and subsequently crashing it into a ditch. The only other passenger in the car, a female prostitute, is killed in the accident. Samsa hides the body and leaves the scene of the crash.
