BLESSED is the title of legendary Manchester United and Northern Ireland footballer George Best. Best's childhood growing up in Northern Ireland was a dificult one and he got through it by playing football all the time with his friends. Best was spotted by Manchester United and joined them when he was 17. This is a good section as he shows that even with a difficult start in life you can suceed. Best became an instant hero at United and explains that he just loved playing football. George Best needs little introduction. A legend in his own lifetime, he is undoubtedly the greatest footballer the UK has ever produced. At his peak he brought glamour and grace to the game, second only in the world to Pele. But with success and fame came excess and foolhardiness, and Best's fabled story is littered with tales of his involvement with women and sex and, of course, the drink. Now he is ready to open his heart and engage his readers in the story of his life. But he is a waist of fucking time and surely doesnt deserve another chance in life. He is an oxygen theif. String him up.......wooooohooooooooo ... Read the complete review

When it comes to telling a story in an autobiography, few have a greater story to tell than the late great George Best did. A man who had the world at his feet but chose drink and gambling over success and happiness or maybe it is wrong to say he chose it exactly but that is the path he ended up on. The book takes you on an amazing journey that no one could have made up, from Georges time as a young lad kicking the ball about in muddy fields with his friends to him lighting up English football with his amazing talents and film star good looks. It was these film star good looks and amazing talent that were to end up being the man's ... Read the complete review

What an amazing book. George has told his amazing story in the rawest of fashion, with a few points in the book were very moving. It starts with the prologue: the other woman, which of course talks about Bests problems with alcahol, this is a fitting way to start the book, and in this prologue it really grips you into reading the whole thing. The pictures included in this book help to tel his life story well, the first section has mainly photos in black and white, with Bests childhood and early football career the main focus. In the second section it shows the "fall" of George Best, as i said before these section really help to take the book to ... Read the complete review

George Best, the David Beckham of that era. Quite possibly more famous than Beckham in comparison due to the freedom the media enjoy these days. Its the story of the troubled and without doubt truly unrivalled talent, that was George Best. From his time playing football with his pals in the fields in Northern Ireland, this book takes you on an jaw dropping journey with Best, back through his life that at times must have been very emotional for him to recollect. He joins the mighty Manchester United as proffesional at the tender age of 17 years old,and by the time he is 21,wins brithish footballer of the year, European footballer of the year and the European ...
