Blood Brother is a crime novel by J. A. Kerley which is part of the Carson Ryder series. Ryder is a homicide detective, who hides a secret; his brother Jeremy is a notorious murderer. When Jeremy escapes from prison and is connected to a series of killings, Ryder ends up on the case. But where will his loyalties lie, to the police and the public or to his brother? From the first couple of pages of the prologue, I was intrigued by this book and quickly found I couldn't put it down. When I first sw this in my local generic superstore, I was sorely tempted but refused to buy it because I had been stung before by mainstream thrillers pumped out to a mass market and invariably disappointing and didn't want a similar experience!! Even though it came recommended by one of my favourite authors, Micheal Marshall whom I have met and is a very pleasent author, still I resisted temptation...that is until somebody requested a swap on READITSWAPIT and this was one of the books on their swap list. Blood Brother is one of the absolute best books I've read in a long time. It's not just brilliantly written but it's also one of the best original crime thriller storylines since Red Dragon. I got this as a Christmas present and Amazon are currently selling it for £3.49 which is half the usual RRP. Apparently this is the fourth book in a set of books by this author but I hadn't read anything by him before reading this one. Someone on the Amazon reviewer bit says that this book is written so that new readers to the series could easily start with this book, and I'd totally agree with that of course!
