The relationship between Carson and Jeremy is especially well written and feels very real. The writing style is pretty easy to read and Kerley often manages to conjure up vivid images without the use of a lot of description, which can be a good quality in a crime novel. He also avoids the use of excessive gore which should please anyone who's squeamish; t...more

Blood Brother is a crime novel by J. A. Kerley which is part of the Carson Ryder series. Ryder is a homicide detective, who hides a secret; his brother Jeremy is a notorious murderer. I got this as a Christmas present and Amazon are currently selling it for £3.49 which is half the usual RRP. Apparently this is the fourth book in a set of books by this author but I hadn't read anything by him before reading this one. Someone on the Amazon reviewer bit says that this book is written so that new readers to the series could easily start with this book, and I'd totally agree with that of course! What I really loved about this story was that it ...  Read the complete review
