Advantages: great book
Disadvantages: none
The front cover to this book is a nice simple one with a picture of two pregnant women and the title of the book on a lovely purple background that will jump out at you from the shelves of a library or book store.
I was brought this book as a gift wholst pregnant with my first child, at thast point i was reading anything i could about babys, labour pregnancy ets so this was just another addition to the colection for me to read my way through which at over 300 pages long should pass away quite a bit of time wholst i had my feet up doing nothing.
There are 10 chapters to this book so you can work your way through it in nice managable chunks without over loading your brain too much which was a good thing for me as my brain always turns to mush when i am pregnant.
Each chapter concentrates on a different area and has references listed at the end of the chapter with useful adresses and numbers which is realy handy.
This book was one of the best i have ever read on pregnancy, it is easy to understand as everything is explained to you in very simple terms and it is a vey calming and reasuring book, it explains all the things you need to know like the changes that happen to your body, the symptoms you will get, great coping techniques for when you are in labour, it talks you through every step and when you need to be doing what like when to call your midwife etc, all the possible things that could happen and how they will be dealt with.
My favorite part about this book is that unlike most of the books i read wholst pregnant with my first child this book didnt get banished to a cupboard never to be seen again as it also deals with second deliveries so was just as much use to me with my second pregnancy, A lot of people dont realise that there is so much to think about the second time round as they think just because they have had one child it will be the same again but this area of the book discusses telling your child you are pregnant, having a faster delivery which is quite common and what pain relief will suit you best depending on your delivery last time, i found this very informative and realy helpful.
This book covers every eventuallity and every possible thing that could happen during the birth or c section delivery, it is very informative and realy enjoyable to read and a must for any pregnant lady
Summary: a brilliant book

- 18/05/09 Don't need anything like this ever again. Not ever! I needed it for my third though as that one was a bit of a shock after my speedy second delivery. Just as hard as the first - in many respects. |
