The story follows the evening of Roley and after ... more  ... each page of the story is an acetate page which when you place Roley underneath the picture becomes clear but you still need to search around the page to find everything that is hiding there. During the story he visits the yard, travels along the road in sunflower valley before arriving at a surprise party. On each page you are asked to look fro something but there is plenty more to see.
All the common machines feature in this book and pilchard the cat can be found on every page.

I bought this book for my son for his second birthday as I thought it was a unique different kind of book but featured Bob the builder who is in His favourite characters list. The front cover has a picture of Bob the builder standing by Roley, one of the members of his machine team, with his full beam headlight. When you open the front cover there is a sheet of acetate to pull out to remove Roley. The book itself is only twelve pages long, made partly of thick card pages and partly of acetate.
