BFC or Books For Children is a book club, that offer's a free book or free collection in return for purchasing 6 books in the year. This is a hark back to the seventies. There are plenty of other companies out there who give a free book and have no tie in's. I went with BFC (Books For Children) because of the initial offer, thinking book clubs no ... Useless, incompetent, arrogant and untrustworthy. Those are a few words that spring to mind. Have been a member for about a year and cannot get them to cancel as the books I wanted were always out of stock. Finally gave in and paid for the 4 books they managed to send. I received an email recently that I still haven't paid... They also erased all ... Read the complete review

I joined Books For Children around 2 years ago as I love reading and wanted to encourage my eldest daughter to read enthusiastically also. I received a leaflet through the post with a great offer to buy 5 books from 25p each and get 1 free. Looking through I was amazed at the quality of the books on offer including The Tales of Peter ... Read the complete review

I was searching the Waterstones site for some good books for my kids about myths and legends. I must admit i get bored by a lot of kids books, so wanted something that i found interesting too. I found exactly what i was looking for in the series of books by: Philip Ardagh There are 8 books in total: Norse myths ... Read the complete review

i was a member for a while but found the additional charges off-putting. i didn't liek being committed to buying a certain number of books, and frequently found the same books cheaper elsewhere, particularly when you have to add the cost of postage. i was also sent books i didn't want as i often forgot to send back the ... Dorling Kindersley are one of the world's best publishers of non-fiction books for children. At one time, I used to sell them to parents and playgroups, but sadly they stopped that area of their business. However, that does not mean that I stopped loving their books. Theirs are the books that children will come back to for factual information ... Read the complete review

Children love good stories. Once they can read, they love to read to themselves. Before then, they love to be read to. There is nothing wrong with many of the modern books available to children, but some of the classics are hard to beat. Not only are the stories good, but the quality of writing, and the value the books will add in terms ... Read the complete review

I have been a member of this book club for approximately 2 years, since my eldest was a baby and I really havent had any problems with it. The choice of books is really quite good and they even mark on the page which age group certain books are suitable for which is a help. The prices are always quite reasonable and sometimes they have offers ... Read the complete review

I have been a member of this book club for the last 9 years and never had any problems until recently when they were joined with Discovery book club . What a nightmare I have had, incorrect orders, items I have not ordered at all and mistakes with my payments. The book prices have risen steeply and the quality of reading matter has been ... I have been getting BFC for some time and have had some great deals. It really does only apply if you are buying for the younger end of childrens reading, most 14-15 year olds will not like the choice. Look out for some absolutely astounding introduction offers, you can pick up half a dozen books for just a couple of pounds. If you fulfill your ... Read the complete review

I have been a member of BFC on and off for over 2 years. Unlike many other bookclubs, your commitment once you have joined is to buy just 2 books in the next 12 months, which really isn’t hard to do as they offer such a wide selection which changes every time. If you keep an eye out for their leaflets, you will usually be able to join BFC ... Read the complete review
