Boudica: Dreaming the Bull - Manda Scott ... sought to crush the vibrant native civilisation of our island home...DREAMING THE BULL continues the story of Breaca - now hailed Boudica, the Bringer of Victory, and her half-brother, Ban, now an officer in the Roman auxiliary cavalry. Each stands on the opposing side in a brutal war of attrition between the occupying army and the defeated tribes, each is determined to see the other dead. Caught between them are two children, son and daughter to two of the greatest warriors their world has ever seen. While in distant Rome, the Emperor Claudius holds the balance of lives in their hands. This is a heart-stopping story of war and of peace; of love, passion and betrayal; of druids and gods in a world where each life is sacred but each death even more so.

Boudica: Dreaming the Eagle - Manda Scott

Premium Review Ancient history as it might have been (570 words)
by ladybracknell - written on 25/05/09 (Very useful, 19 readings)
Rating:

I first came across Manda Scott when I read one of her crime novels, Stronger Than Death, which I thoroughly enjoyed, so I looked for other books she had written and found Boudica: Dreaming the Eagle, the first in her series about the life and times of Boudica or Boadicea as she was know when I was at school. Firstly, this book is very hard to categorise and doesn t fit entirely into the genre of Science Fiction/Fantasy but could also be described as a historical novel. Historically, there is no doubt that Boudica existed although details of her life are pretty sketchy and what is know was written by the Romans. Manda Scott has built on limited information about the ...
