Gripping but predictable! (The Brethren - John Grisham)
Advantages: Gripping, exciting and an entertaining read! Disadvantages: The plot is a little too predictable compared to usual!
After the highly disappointing 'Street Lawyer', Grisham hit back with 'The Testament', which was a significant improvement. With his latest work, 'The Brethren' Grisham has gone a step further with a reminder of his previous brilliance. 'The Bretheren' is extremely readable, and the intense storyline manifests itself right from the start. The main plot centres on two sub-stories which suddenly intertwine mid-way through the book. It really is one of those classic Grisham books where the reader simply cannot wait to see what happens at the end. Fans of Grisham's style will love the return to legal intricacies which demonstrate Grisham's background. It is not a typical Grisham book though - it is refreshing to see that he has managed to slide away from courtroom-dramas to try a subtler angle in this book! Summary: |
