I can agree with those that say it is not Grisham's best piece of work, but I did like it anyway. This book is a change for Grisham; a little different than what we are used to from him. Instead of a high suspenseful nail biter, this one is more of a comical entwined story line. It is basically about three imprisoned judges with a scam going. ...

Firstly, this book is written by John Grisham, which means that you get the usual well-written book, so that once you start it, you don't put it down till you finish. (At least, that's what happened to me. I read it in a weekend.) What makes this one different is that there aren't really any good guys. It's the story of how some ...

As an avid reader of John Grisham, you get the feeling that at some stage repetition will set in and a feeling of deja vue will prevail, but that is not the case. In The Brethren he manages to come up with yet another original, prison-based story-line which holds your interest page after page. This book manages to give an insight into US ...

After the highly disappointing 'Street Lawyer', Grisham hit back with 'The Testament', which was a significant improvement. With his latest work, 'The Brethren' Grisham has gone a step further with a reminder of his previous brilliance. 'The Bretheren' is extremely readable, and the intense storyline manifests ...

I enjoyed it immensely. I thought the plot and the premise were better than average. The characters were convincing and their motivation plausible. Up until the last 40 pages, I was loving this book. When I am truly enjoying a book, I notice that I never look to see what page I'm on, constantly trying to figure out how many more pages I have ...

When it comes to legal yarns, Grisham is the master. He continues his recent trend of setting his books anywhere but the court with the main environment a U.S. minimum security prison. And in case you think he's changed completely and written about a Christian Church, "The Bretheren" are 3 judges serving time. And they haven't ...

John Grisham takes us away from the usual courtroom drama's that make us fans of his. Not too far away though, still lots of legal things going on. 3 bent Judges, called The Brethen, by their fellow inmates, idling away their time inside a Florida prison. But, they are not idling..... a blackmailing scam is going on. They just ...
