... coursework and I happily watched Shakespeare rather than wade my way through in in paperback. Bridget Jones is portrayed as the average girl next door albeit it disorganised one. She doesn't have a perfect life and she is incredibly insecure and disorganised and a little bit like me. Perhaps that's why the books appealed to so many. Almost any female out there can empathise with Bridget and her very many quirks. The Edge of Reason, like the original diary, is written diary style with multiple entries each day from ra...more

Crowned Review The Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason - Helen Fielding: The Edge of Dreadful (1073 words)
by - written on 25/08/05 (Very useful, 134 readings)
Rating:

Whenever something is a huge sales success, it inadvertently spawns a sequel. This isn’t always a good thing and more sequels are a bad idea than are good ones. After all, sequels are difficult things. With a sequel, the fans what more of the same quality and all the things that made the original so popular, but if you replicate the original too closely, those same fans complain that it’s exactly the same as the original. More often than not, you discover that you can’t win with a sequel and they’re better avoided. With “Bridget Jones – The Edge of Reason”, Fielding has been careful not to fall into the trap of making a sequel too similar to the original. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason - Helen Fielding: A fantastic read. (464 words)
by - written on 27/05/09 (Very useful, 25 readings)
Rating:

Bridget Jones is the original...and the best singleton. "The Edge of Reason" (the second Jones diary by Helen Fielding) is surprisingly a great read. I was expecting it to be a major let down in comparison to the first book, but I admit that I was completely wrong...this book is fantastic!!! The book varies an awful lot from the film, it is most certainly more fun and delves deeper into the "diary" aspect of Bridget's life. I bought the book today...after having purchased the French version of it thinking it would be a good way for me to improve my french (that failed miserably by the way - I barely got past the first page and ...  Read the complete review

*** Plot *** Stop what you are doing girls, Bridget Jones is back and she's just as funny, realistic and disaster prone as ever! 'The Edge of Reason' follows on from the hugely successful 'Bridget Jone's Diary' written by the fantastic author, Helen Fielding. Follow Bridget as she learns what it's like to wake up every day with a man who never wash's up and who never invites you around to his place. Add to that an annoyingly sarcastic and ignorant new boss, A man stealing 'friend', and constant weight worries as well as trying to keep your friends and family together despite your own relationship problems, and you'll see that this is an ...  Read the complete review

The neurotic, hapless Bridget is back for a second instalment of her diary; titled The Edge Of Reason. Last time we saw her, she was happily shacked up with that nice Mr Mark Darcy, having kicked Daniel Cleaver, her womanising boss to the kerb. So what's new? Well... a lot happens in this book, and it isn't all good! Bridget is still calorie-counting, scribbling away obsessively at her diary whenever she gets the chance, and throwing herself into ridiculous situations, but now she has to fight for her man when snooty, 'social jellyfish' Rebecca sets her sights on Mark... ...  Read the complete review
