Bringing down The Moon By Jonathan Emmett and illustrated by Vanessa Cabban After my recent and ever so successful trip to our local library we came back with about seven books all ranging in story and format. This particular book grabbed my attention, as it is in board book format so easy for Jack to grab hold of and try and turn the page himself! Of course getting it from the library is the cheapest way to enjoy the book but the price on the cover is a reasonable £4.99 pence. The book consists of 24 large board type pages each one has a brilliant illustration coving the entire page with writing over the top of the picture. There are not too ... Read the complete review

We are big fans of picture books in this house and even now my daughters are getting that little bit older, they are still firm favourites and they always make a bee line to this section in our local library. On a recent visit, one of the books that they picked up and absolutely loved was Bringing down the Moon by Jonathan Emmett. This is a heart warming story about a delightful little character called Mole. One night he sees a shiny full moon high up in the sky and thinks that it is the most beautiful thing that he has ever seen! He doesn't actually know that it is the moon though but he does decide that he wants it so he keeps jumping up and down trying to ... Read the complete review

This book makes a perfect choice for a heartwarming bedtime read. I started reading it to my son at bedtime when he was 18 months old. Obviously he's too young to read it but he loves listening to the story and looking at all the pictures. The writing in it is very clear so is perfect for when he does start reading. The book tells the story of a mole who sees the moon in the sky one night and decides it's so beautiful he must have it for himself. He tries everything to reach the moon, despite his friends warnings that it's farther away than it looks. He keeps trying and trying until he falls out of a tree and sees the moons reflection in the pond. He ... Read the complete review

Bringing down the moon is one of my favourite books to read with my daughter. I love the illustrations by Vanessa Cabban the pictures on the book are nice. The story is about a mole who wants the moon. He tries several ways to bring the moon down to him including jumping up to get it, knocking it down with a stick, throwing acorns at it to knock it down, then finally he climbs a tree to fetch it. Unfortunately, he falls from the tree and lands in a puddle where he sees that he has done it the moon is next to him in a puddle. When he goes to pick the moon up it shatters into pieces. (He is looking at the reflection in the puddle) Then a cloud comes ... Read the complete review

On a star filled moonlit night when everyone is asleep Mole burrows out of the ground and sees the moon for the first time. Its the most beautiful thing hes ever seen. He wants it and sets about trying to get it so that he could have it to keep. Mole tries jumping up to grab it but only suceeds in waking Rabbit who tells Mole that the moon is further away than he thinks. Mole tries poking it with a long pokey stick but doesn't manage to poke down the moon, although he does manage to wake Hedgehog who offers the same advice. Mole tries to knock it down like a giant coconut in a celestial fairground by throwing acorns at it. Still the moon doesn't come down, ... Read the complete review
