Advantages: Good storyline

Disadvantages: Stale places in story

As with all Martina Coles books, you can almost guarantee that they will grip you in such a way, that you won't be able to put the book down until you have reached the final page.

'Broken' is no exception, as soon as I found out that it was soon to become available, I pre-ordered a copy, and waited in baited breath for the book to come through my door.

As with all Martina Cole's books, they are very easy to read and also very to get absorbed into the storyline. All of the books she writes have believable storylines (things that you know could happen in real life). I also find that because it is so easy to get into the story, it becomes a very difficult book to put down, as you can't wait to turn the page in order to find out what is going to happen next. Therefore, when I read Martina Coles books, my family find that the book is beside me every waking hour, until I finish the story.

The story's main characters are D.I Kate Burrows and her partner Patrick Kelly. Kate is enlisted to find out why some of the local children are going missing, and turning up either on top of buildings which are about to be demolished, found chucked in the back of dustbin lorries, or in disused warehouses etc... It turns out that the mothers of the children concerned (most of wihch are on drugs of some description) are 'borrowing' out their children for drugs etc...

Patrick Kelly is known as a local hard man, who runs a local club, and who has made himeself a few enemies also. One of these enemies is a Russian called 'Boris' who gets him shot. Therefore, leaving Kate to not only sort out the case of the missing children, but to also help her partner out of some of the trouble he finds himself in. I will leave the storyline there, as there is nothing worse if someone tells you the ending to a book.

The book is very good. However, I don't feel that it was particularly one of Martina Coles best bo
oks, as it did have a habit of getting a bit boring in places.

Though, no matter which way you rate 'Broken', Martina Cole excels herself again, with another bestseller and I personally cannot wait for her next book to become available.

I've been meaning to give this author a try as I see her name everywhere, your enthusiasm is encouraging and I will when I get the chance.

Oh, nice, brief outline of plot and good to hear someone being enthusiastic about books! I wish you'd added just a tiny bit about her style of writing though? Is it quick and easy to read? Or dense and needing concentration?

S orry to pick holes, I feel mean!
