My son loves to have books read to him and he also likes to look at books alone, he will happily sit for long periods of time flicking through a book looking at the pictures. The only problem is that he is an excited toddler who hasn't learnt how to be gentle with his books just yet. His eager little hands and teeth get carried away sometimes, so some of his more expensive paperback books stay out of his reach so they can be enjoyed together at reading time. I have bought many board books for him so he can have his own books to look at that are toddler friendly. I often buy books online as you can find many good titles at much lower prices than in shops, ... Read the complete review

As those who have read my recent reviews will know my son is mad about the book the zoo by Rod Campbell so when we were at the library and I saw the picture Buster's Zoo by the same author I thought it seemed right up his street. One of the things that Rod Campbell believes in is involving children in the books as much as possible. He has written on a variety of stories based upon the little boy Buster. Buster's Zoo is a card touch and feel book. First printed in 2006 The book encourages interaction right from the front cover which has a picture of a monkey that has a circular disc of brown fur to feel. The story is of Buster's visit to the ... Read the complete review

My son is very much into touch and feel books at the moment, and every day goes to his book basket, grabs one and thumps it down onto my lap for us to read together. I saw this one on the website Red House at a much reduced price, and decided to buy it. It arrived 2 days ago and we have read it 4 times in 2 days! A favourite in my house already. The author Rod Campbell has been writing and illustrating children's books for over 20 years. His most famous book is "Dear Zoo", a lift-the-flap children's book. He has written several other books with the character Buster and this is the latest book in the Buster book series. The cover has a ... Read the complete review

I bought this book for my son when he was 8 months old and I was beginning to introduce him to picture books and stories. It is a touch-and-feel book so provided the opportunity for my son to interact with the pages, and gave us a chance for a cuddle too. This card book was first published in 2006. The story is only 12 pages long with text on the left and a brightly coloured picture on the right. The text consists of just one or two large print sentences per page and the language is simple with some degree of repetition, all good when reading to a young baby or toddler. The story focuses on Buster, a blonde red dungareed toddler, and his visit to ... Read the complete review
