C++ How To Program is an excellent introduction for beginning C++ programmers. I used it as my first year text at university and well, it helped get me through their exams so it has to be pretty good doesn't it? Trust me, it does. The first five chapters are based on the fundamentals of C++ programming, dealing with control structures, functions, arrays and pointers whilst introducing the basic concepts behind structured program design. Later chapters deal with the building blocks of C++, i.e. object oriented programming techniques (OOP) and continue to develop the language.
