this book is amazing. having heard about it from a friend i was eager to read it. jennifer worth was a midwife in the 1950s and her stories of the ladies of east end London are heartwarming ones. the imaages are very graphic and sound appalling. the midwives having to ride their bicycles to labouring mothers are something we cannot imagine today. ...
