This is honestly the best textbook out there if you want to start learning Latin. It's been a couple of years since I stopped taking the subject, but I still remember quite a lot, and I think it's due to the quality of these books. They start you off nice and easily, with simple sentences, and then progress to stories about Caecilius and his family. It guides you through grammar and explains it in a simple way, which is really good, because we're not really used to thinking about how you should use the dative or pluperfect in English. At the end of every couple of chapters there's a section on Roman Life, which I found really interesting, and I think it helps ... Read the complete review

This book is GREAT for anyone who wants to start learning latin. The books can be bought on amazon for about £12 each. The books have lots of pictures and Information about what life was like in Pompeii and surrounding villages. It starts with simple words and builds up to sentences and paragraphs. Soon you will be able to read short stories in Latin. The Cambridge Latin course website can be accessed for free and has games and an online dictionary which relates to the books.
