This was one of the very first book i read alone as a child and is still engraved in my mind! I still lend this book out to my younger cousins who always return it saying it is a fantastic read! This book is set during the war, and tells the life of Carrie and her brother as they are evacuated to leafy Wales. They are sent to live with a very strict Mr Evans. During the book Carries trys to heal the friendship between Mr Evans and his estranged sister. This book is a great read for younger ones! it is easy to follow and the language is easy to understand, whilst not patronising the reader. The description leaves a very clear image in the reader ... Now I know Carrie's War is technically a children's book but that doesn't stop me from loving it. If you have read my top ten books review then you will know that I rated this book as number ten in that list... and for good reason. Carrie's War tells the story of a young girl called Carrie and her younger brother Nicholas who are evacuated to the country during the Second World War. The two youngsters fall into the care of Mr Evans and his sister, who quite quickly becomes fondly known to the children as Auntie Louise.
