Advantages: Utterly readable

Disadvantages: None

I've had this book for about 14 years and according to the back it was £10.99 (that may have changed with time), it was bought for me when my cat Tigger was a kitten. Having been through a childhood with dogs it was quite a confusing twist to end up with a cat but he proved the ideal companion but at that time I knew comparitively little about cats per se.

This is by no means a cat care book, it will not inform on vaccinations, collars or food, this book but gives more insights into the characters of cats and why they perform or act in certain ways.

Typical of the subject areas that are addressed are:
Why do cats purr?, How does a cat manage to fall on its feet?, Why do cats eyes glow in the dark?, Why do cats eat grass? and Why does a cat hiss? The subject list goes on and on and indeed there is something for every cat owner / lover here covering a total of 143 pages, but every two pages there is a brilliant colour photograph representing the subject matter in question. In using this book to understand better Tiggers character I believe it made for a harmonious living arrangement for us both and indeed he survived until early this year.

More recently this book has come into the fore again by assisting with my daughters school project on animals being able to provide some more abstract areas to cover.

Summary: For those cat owners and lovers amongst us - this book belongs on your shelf

What a fascinating book. I don't have any cats (Moses doesn't care too much for them) but the facts in this book would interest anybody, I would think

I thought this was quite fascinating - and it genuinely helped me understand my kitty a little better.
