Cents and Sensibility - Maggie Alderson

Description: ISBN 0141019611 / Author: Maggie Alderson / Stella Fain has a rule for men she likes: make them wait ...But the gorgeous Jay proves an exception to the rule when he bowls Stella off her Prada wedges at a press junket on the Cote d'Azur. He might seem to have everything going ... more
Cents and Sensibility - Maggie Alderson ... for him, but Stella is about to realize that there's only thing worse than having a boyfriend with no money ...and that's having one with too much. Jetset lifestyles can be fabulous, but Stella's career as a journalist isn't something she wants to jeopardize for any man, no matter how filthy rich or gorgeous. And then there's her father - a six-times-married prime slice of Alpha Male with a grudge against inherited wealth ...and Jay. There's no denying money makes the world go round and diamonds are a girl's best friend, but they don't make the path to love any easier to tread. With or without the Prada wedges.

Mad About the Boy - Maggie Alderson

Premium Review Mad About The Book! (484 words)
by chicklitreviews - written on 14/08/09 (Very useful, 49 readings)
Rating:

Mad About The Boy is Maggie Alderson s second novel (her first being Pants on Fire). A year after Hugo and Antonia move to Sydney, Hugo announces he s gay and also has a boyfriend (Greg). He leaves Antonia alone in her adopted city with only her son, Tom, and food for comfort. Not only that but all of her friends seem to have deserted her. Then along comes Hugo s outrageous Uncle Percy who sends Antonia to the gym. There she meets the mysterious James but what on Earth is he hiding? I loved Mad About The Boy. I enjoy reading books set in country s I ve never visited (but would like to!) as I usually get a great picture of said place. This book was set in Sydney and I ...

Handbags and Gladrags - Maggie Alderson

Premium Review PLASTIC PEOPLE (757 words)
by thingywhatsit - written on 28/08/06 (Very useful, 128 readings)
Rating:

held a good story for any age of person that is interested in fashion or the rigmarole of the high life that the fashion industry offers. Never having read Maggie Alderson before, I didn t have any idea of what her writing style was like. It s a good book to get yourself buried in and not a particularly quick read. It tells the story of those involved in the fashion business, and Maggie herself has been working in that business for a long time, so the background is a solid one. The main character is Emily, a girl with a past that is gradually uncovered during the course of the book. Her father was a famous artist, her mother a little eccentric and over-reactive, though ...

Pants on fire - Maggie Alderson Pants on fire is a novel about Georgia (Georgiana, but NOT Georgie!) Abbott who moves to Australia to escape from her life after she left her fiance who cheated on her. She moves from her job in London to a job on Glow magazine where she meets her friends that throw her straight into a whirl of A list parties, dancing, drugs and cowboys. She finds that men in Australia aren t all that different to those in London that she left behind. I started reading this book during my exams, as a chill out thing when I wasn t revising. But then I stopped because it wasn t any more interesting than textbooks! I got to page 120 and it wasn t going ...
