Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl ... chocolate maker, is opening his doors to the public--well, five members of the public, actually. The lucky five who find a Golden Ticket in their Wonka bars will receive a private tour of the factory, given by Mr Wonka himself. For young Charlie Bucket, this a dream come true. So when he finds a dollar bill in the street, he can't help but buy two Wonka's Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delights--even though his impoverished family could certainly use the extra dollar for food. But as Charlie unwraps the second chocolate bar, he sees the glimmer of gold just under the wrapper. The very next day, Charlie, along with his unworthy fellow winners Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde and Augustus Gloop, steps through the factory gates to discover whether or not the rumours surrounding the Chocolate Factory and its mysterious owner are true. What they find is that the gossip can't compare to the extraordinary truth, and for Charlie, life will never be the same again. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: another unforgettable masterpiece from the legendary Roald Dahl, never fails to delight, thrill and utterly captivate.

Crowned Review Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl: ~~A Sweet and Sugary Tale~~ (890 words)

Do you like chocolate ? I'm sure there's not many who don't, but could you imagine only being able to buy one tiny bar of chocolate a year and then making it last as long as you could ? Of course not, in fact I'm not sure if I could make one giant bar last longer than 5 minutes, gannet that I am !!!! Well the hero of Roald Dahl's best childrens fantasy (as far as I'm concerned) had to do just that !! Charlie Bucket lives with his two, elderly, frail, sets of grandparents and his Mum and Dad in a tiny, wooden shack on the outskirts of a large town. They are extremely poor, they live on mainly boiled potatoes and cabbage...yeeuk..so probably pens and inks a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A classic children's story from Roald Dahl (382 words)
by - written on 26/09/08 (Very useful, 90 readings)
Rating:

When I was a child and I had first learnt to read properly, I became obsessed with reading, and I soon homed in on two authors: Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl. I would spend a long time reading books from both authors, and I think one of the first of Dahl's books I read was this one; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is a wonderful tale that gives people hopes and dreams and is a magical read. Charlie Bucket lives with his entire family (grandparents included) in the tiniest of houses. Multi-millionaire and chocolatge factory owner Willy Wonka launches a competition featuring 5 golden tickets, hidden inside the wrapping of a Wonka Bar, the most popular ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl: A wonderful book by a wonderful author (162 words)
by - written on 05/08/00 (Very useful, 26 readings)

This, to me, is the best of Roald Dahl's childrens' stories... Charlie Bucket lives with his mother and two sets of parents in a run down hovel... Extremely poor, they all live in one room with the grandparents sharring one bed - two at the top and two at the bottom. They live on a dish of boiled veg leaves and bread if they're lucky. One day a wonderful competition is announced. Willy Wonka the chocolate factory woner has placed five golden tickets in his Wonka Bars. The finders of the tickets will each get a visit to the factory and loads of chocolate. I won't give too much away, but needless to say, this brings out ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A Great Fun Book To Read! (178 words)
by - written on 17/07/00 (Very useful, 27 readings)
Rating:

I love all Roald Dahl books, and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory is one of my favourites. The story is based on a boy called Charlie Bucket who is very poor and lives with his mum and 2 sets of grandparents all in a tiny house. The 4 grandparents all sleep in the same bed, which is hilarious! Also, they all eat some awful watered-down soup stuff! Anyway, Willy Wonka chocolate bars have the chance of winning a golden ticket to take a tour around the Willa Wonka factory, and Willy Wonka has placed just 5 golden tickets in chocolate bars around the world. So it is absolutely brilliant how all kids are dying to win a golden ticket, and shops everywhere are selling out ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl: Bucket hits the Jackpot!!! (141 words)
by - written on 06/07/00 (Very useful, 38 readings)
Rating:

The thing about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the fact that it was written by Roald Dahl who, no objections please, was probably the best Kids author of his time and his books are timeless. They are also pretty out-of-this-world and extremely funny. Charlie Bucket is the hero of the story. He lives in a small house with his mother, father, Grandpas and Grandmas and he is very poor. He loves Willie Wonkas chocolate factory and more than anything in the world he wishes he could own it. And, to add to his luck, Willie Wonka is retiring and is looking for 5 people to audition for his place as manager! All you need is a Gold Ticket in one of the chocolate bars. As ...  Read the complete review
