Advantages: Very entertaining and imaginative
Disadvantages: none
Charlie and the choclate factory is one of my favourite books of all time. It was given to me as a gift from a cousin of mine. Well she gave it to me when I was about 7, only because she had grown out of it. I loved the story and remember reading it many many times. I practically knew the book inside out. The plot is based around Charlie Bucket, a little boy who comes from quite a poor family. He loves choclate but having a poor background he can only have very little and that is when his grandfather buys it for him. Very luckily he wins a ticket to visit Willy Wonka's choclate factory and that is like a dream come true for him. All the other children who win tickets are spoilt brats, in some way or other and the story basically follows the adventure of Charlie and the other children in this amazing choclate factory. I would recommend that Charlie and the choclate factory is one of those books that all children have to have read. Not only is it entertaining but there is also a moral to the story. I would put it in the same league as, Alice in wonderland and The lion, the witch and the wardrobe. The story is told from the point of view of a child and Roald dahl does this so realistically. You believe that it is a young child who is telling the story.

MykReeve - 25/02/01 Sorry for the harsh rating, but you don't offer much information about the plot of the book. I also would have liked to read more about what you particularly enjoyed about the story. If you should update this opinion, and add more information, let me know, and I'll rerate. |
