This is a book that I really enjoyed when I was at school so I had no hesitations in choosing it as a bed time story. As a child, chocolate was a thing that really fascinated me. I can still remember thinking ?wow all that chocolate?. I wasn?t alone so did my own friends, we all wanted to work in a chocolate factory. The story is really enjoyable. It focuses on a small boy called Charlie who lives with his parents and grandparents. They don?t have much money can hardly afford luxuries like chocolate. Its when the ?Wonka Chocolate Factory? starts a competition where you have they have to find the golden tickets hidden inside the chocolate wrappers. The winner will get free chocolate for the rest of his life. That is a wow. The competitions starts a frenzy whilst children desperately loo for the five tickets. Charlie for his birthday gets a chocolate bar but unfortunately there?s no golden ticket. There are already two people who have found the tickets-a boy called Augustus and a girl from a wealthy family called Veruca Salt. Her father went to great lengths for find the wrapper and it probably cost him a small fortune finding the ticket. As the third and then the fourth ticket is open there doesn?t seem much hope that Charlie will find one. It?s a stroke of luck when Charlie finds some money walking home from school. He buys a chocolate and a Wonka bar for his grandpa Joe. On the way home, he?s to excited and decided to open it to find the fifth ticket. Lets just say he?s extremely happy. The five children have to go to the Chocolate factory. I won?t tell you what happens but there?s a good ending and a good moral as well. Charlie is different he is well behaved and unspoiled compared to the rest of the children. The book is really well written, easy to read and suitable for children from 7 onwards. I do find it is also a good bed time read. It?s funny can compelling, children want you to carry on readi
ng because they want to know more. I think the topic is one that really interests both children and adults. I would say this is a classic children?s books and one that will be enjoyed for years to come.
