Advantages: Top class author, brilliant illustration in most of the books.
Disadvantages: Some parts drag a bit.
Roald Dahl - Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator
A great childrens author, i remember reading many of his books when i was younger, my mother once brought me a big box set collection and i really enjoyed reading every single one. This was published in 1973 by Puffin, and is the next book on from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The story is continued from Charlie and the Chocolate factory and once again was very comical and easy to read. It is about Charlie being taken up in flying lift depicted also at the end of the top-class original film, it is very exciting and can be describes as a suspense story.
The first 20 pages or so dragged a bit, but you never start off purely in the action, the story was really enjoyable. If you like entertaining, funny and exiting books you will enjoy Charlie and the glass elevator.
Not alot really happens in this book and is nothing in comparison to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but it is always nice to have a sequal to let you know what happens next; i know after i read that book and watched the film i always wanted to know what happened next so i really did enjoy it.
There is also a new remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory featuring Johnny Deep as Willy Wonka, this version in my mind is not as good as the original and is a bit more dark.
Summary: I like Roald Dahl books alot and would recommend them not just for children but for adults too...
