This was such a fun book about three friends. Emmy has just been chucked by her long-term boyfriend, traded in for a younger model just before her wedding. Adriana, the sexy Brazilian, is a total party animal and man-eater and lives a swanky life without having to work thanks to her parents cash! Leigh is a bit OCD about things but seems to have her life sorted with a perfect boyfriend and great job. Getting together over some drinks they make a decision to change their lives. Emmy is to become care-free and to sleep with a man from each continent without weighing them up for marriage and father material. Adriana is to do the absolute opposite and find herself one man to put that Harry Winston ring on her finger. Leigh is finding it tricky to find anything to change until she really begins to look at her relationship and question every part of it. A sexy author she is supposed to be publishing also helps her to question how perfect her relationship really is. The characters are brought to life so well by he author that you can completely relate to them either by finding similarities to yourself or your friends. This makes the book itself so engaging in that you care about how the lives of these girls pan out.
I was drawn to this book as i absolutely love the front cover of the book, i love girly reads and thought this would make a perfect addition to my collection. It was only when i got it home i realised it was written by the same author as Devil Wears Prada. I could not wait to get started.
We follow the lives of three women in persuite of the men of their dreams. It is a very fun book and a great read for holidays or a relaxed afternoon. The three main characters are Leigh; young business women at the height of her career engaged to someone she does not really love, but the one man she really wants is married. Emmy; Recently dumped by her boyfriend and makes a promise to herself and her friends to sleep with one man in every continent she visits. And then there is Adriana the life of the group who loves to party, but wants to settle down and break her self away from her wealthy partner. The three friends make promises to one another which changes their view on life completely.
I love this book as we attach ourselves to one character, as each and everyone of us can see a bit of us in one of them. We are pulled in as we want to find out how the girls friendship and lives change through the course of the book and ultimately whether they find happiness in themselves.
Overall i would definitely recommend this book, it a good feel good story, which allows you to escape to the lives of three different characters, daring to do things we would not. Fantastic easy ready and very girly. I loved it
"Chasing Harry Winston" is a pleasant chick-lit paperback following the lives of three women as they weather relationship issues and pursue the man (or men) of their dreams. Reminiscent of the easiness of Jackie Collins novels, but with more depth and realistic characters, "Chasing Harry Winston" is a good novel to read when you're feeling lazy and want some premium relaxation in your afternoon novel.
Lauren Wisberger has taken the time to follow through with thorough research and believable characters which make "Chasing Harry Winston" far less trashy than it would have been in other author's hands. I found myself relating to some of the issues in the story and I'm sure it would also appeal to many women in this way.
Emmy is newly single, dumped by her long term boyfriend for a younger woman and vows to sleep with a different man on each continent to break the pattern of devotion to non-committal men.
Adriana is a party and glamour girl who has never tried settling for one man - she explores what it feels like to invite stability into her relationships and also discovers how good it feels to have a job that fits perfectly and allows adequate independence from her rich parents.
Leigh is at the pinnacle of her career but is engaged to a man who doesn't excite her and finds the man she desires is already married.
Described as "Sassy, insightful and sooo Sex and the City", "Chasing Harry Winston" is at times romantic, bewildering, funny, meaningful and amusing. The characters are easy to follow and an engaging plot holds your interest all of the way through. The three main characters are as easy to relate to as real friends are and the general description and storyline throughout the book shows that Lauren has put a lot of effort in to create an international bestseller that appeals to lots of women.
