Lee Child is the author of the Jack Reacher series of novels and if your looking for banal, ridiculous storylines with little or no connection to the outside world than he's your man.

The Jack Reacher novels feature a special forces character whose turned into a kind of A teamesque one man fighting regime, he's tall, enigmatic, a man of few words and has a self centred view on the world. Reacher novels are amongst the worst drivel I've ever read and thats saying something after reading Dan Brown and Sam Browne but even those two authors had the fall back position of being inventive and thinking of some kind of conspiracy theory, however, the Reacher novel are just vacous rubbish.

Now I like the kind of novel the Reacher novels aim to be, I've always loved James Bond and Tom Clancy even the more dumbed down versions like Wilbur Smith or clive Cussler but they all had something to offer other than the premise of shoot outs, car chases, beautiful women, exotic locations, espionage, treachery, love, hate, sex, destruction, technology and belief in what they are doing. However, Childs plumbs the depth of the enigmatic one man fighting machine, he turns a character reminiscent of Clint Eastwood at his most taciturn into a man who escapes the worst the world throws at him with a bad quip and a sentence on how boring the real world is.

The premise for the character is ridiculous, the writing poor tending to rely on very short chapters, little or no description and some incredibly one dimensional bad guys and overall a very poor effort at anything approaching literature. Childs writing will appal to some but please read his work and think at the end, you know what I'm sure there's better oue there, yes there is and its called Ian Fleming or Jack Higgins or Tom Wheatley go and find them and see if you agree.

Summary: Rubbish
