Circle of Friends
------------------------
I heard a lot about this book and finally decided to buy it last month. The book is built around main character Benny Hogan in the back ground of an Irish landscape . The era of the story is set in old cultural mix and is really delightful to read through.
Benny has come across Eve in her early years and they form a close relation. Maeve Binchy has really breathed a warm ambience for their true friendship and closeness coupled with the childhood innocence.
During her college career Benny meets new people and the story rolls on to show the entire circle of friends. The two naïve ladies enter their adulthood and suddenly face plethora of changes around them which has been beautifully picked up in the story. The narration of characters like Nan & Jack has been really emphatic. I was particularly impressed with the character evolution of Jack as Benny's love interest. The story is really gripping in terms of depicting all the thread breaking events that lead to multiple tense moments in the circle of friends.
This book talks about friends, their life style ,relationship, loyalty, maturity secrets and tearful moments of a circle of friends and keep the reader glued through out. Let me not spill the beans by depicting the entire story out here. But I would definitely like to mention that the characters are really well personified and you will long to meet them.
I have read it twice and I feel you will also love it. As this book sends a strong message life is not ordinary there is every moment to be enjoyed and savour...
Summary: A great piece from a master storyteller
