I must start this opinon by stating that generally I'm a huge fan of the Lonely Planet guides. I found the Prague city guide to be a huge help when I spent a long weekend there and the guides to Korea and China have both been very useful in planning excursions etc. With the above in mind I was expecting a lot more from the Seoul city guide. However, in the five months I have lived in the city I've come to view the normally revered Lonely Planet as something more akin to the usual tourist pap churned out by the local city government. If you want to go somewhere and would like to do some different things, get a Lonely Planet guide. We went to Bangkok for three days so we read the book first to get a feel for the place. It has very good sections for Culture things and language which makes life easier in Countries where the culture is so different and you havent go a clue about the language. It also comes up with cheaper options and the not so standard tourist things which is really good. It also warns you for pickpockets and tourist scam, like people trying to lure you in their taxis for a cheap tourist tour after which you end up somewhere you do not want to be paying more than you expected. ...  Read the complete review
