Advantages: enjoyable read

Disadvantages: none

I discovered Lynda La Plante's books quite by accident, although I watched the Tv sequels. I found 'She's out' in a second hand book shop and have been addicted ever since.

Cold Blood is a fairly chunky book, but don't be put off. She's an excellent writer who captures you on the first page.

The story line revolves around a rich teenage girl that goes missing. A typical run of the mill theme for many books but not this one. The plot thickens and broadens to cover alcoholics, drug addicts, private investigators but with a heavy accent of Black Magic.

If you've read any of her other stories you'll remember Lorraine Page an ex cop who struggles with her alcohol addiction. She's tough and ruthless but very broken and hurt underneath. It's a book you won't want to put down and you'll feel the need to read her other books too.

Sorry, but this is not what I consider a thorough, let alone (very) useful, book review. Malu
