Cold Kill - Stephen Leather

Description: ISBN 0340834129 / Author: Stephen Leather / Genre: Crime / Thriller / Reflecting the fact that crime is now a global industry, with major criminals hopping easily from continent to continent, this latest outing for Leather’s resourceful undercover operative Dan ‘Spider’ ... more
Cold Kill - Stephen Leather ... Shepherd catapults him into a new role. Asylum seekers have been bringing fake euros into the UK in a scam organised by the Albanian Mafia, while Bangladeshi moneychangers handle the London logistics. At the same time, terrorist organisations are busily recruiting men and women who are able to move easily between Western countries without drawing any attention to themselves. And these new recruits are, of course, being handed lethal assignments that it's up to people like Dan to stop. Going undercover, he makes contact with a major Albanian criminal in France, and discovers that (for the right money) British passports are easily obtainable. Soon, Dan is on the trail of a suspected terrorist, and many lives will be at stake unless he can bring a major international conspiracy to a halt.

Premium Review Full marks by a Long Shot (795 words)

The Book The Long Shot is set in contemporary times and is a fiction thriller. The Author Stephen Leather The first book I read by Stephen leather was Tango One which was non stop action. This made me take an interest in this author, leading me to purchase this book. Stephen Leather has had many jobs in his time, before he embarked on a full time writing career in 1992. What I think helps him to be able to write the way he does, was his decade spent in journalism. The Plot A family trip flying over the Arizona Desert leads to a major discovery for FBI Agent Cole Howard, three snipers have been spotted rehearsing for a killing. But with this discovery, comes ...

It was in a service station where a Stephen Leather book caught my eye for the first time. I picked it up, read the back and thought how good it sounded. I had no intention of buying it and thought next time I was in the library I’d look for it. That was if I could remember! I did though, although I forgot the title. My library only had one on the shelf, ‘Soft Target’ so I thought that I’d give it a go. Looking at the cover (a gun being pointed by a man) I figured it would be aimed at men. I didn’t let this put me off though. I’m glad, as it has been one of the best books I’ve read recently. It won’t be winning any awards but it had me gripped from the first few pages and ...

be in his quest for freedom. “Prisons don t rehabilitate, they don t punish, they don t protect, so what the hell do they do?” Hard Landing by Stephen Leather was one of those books I did not want to end, I have always been a Leather fan and have read his entire back catalogue, and this book moved his writing on to a new level. I got completely swept along with the frank and often violent theme, occasionally wincing as I could see what was about to happen in all of its bloody detail. I felt sympathy with the main character as he struggled to stay in character twenty four seven, knowing that one loose word could result in his own painful death. I felt a certain amount ...
