This is an excellent book if you’ve got children. The first thing I noticed about it is that it is the symptom you look up, rather than the name of the illness itself. I’ve spent hours in the past trawling through medical books when one of my kids has been ill. But with this book you look up the actual symptom, e.g. rash, fever, headache, tummy ache, etc. Symptoms are listed alphabetically. Under each symptom there are various sections – a description of the symptom itself, ideas of what it might mean, advice on what to do, home treatment, whether or not to call the doctor and what the doctor is likely to do.
