Jonathan Kellerman in general

Premium Review Best thriller writer around (383 words)

Rating:

Jonathan Kellerman is the author of a series of thrillers featuring child psychologist Alex Delaware. I have a mental image of Alex as looking and sounding very much like Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense. He's an intelligent, caring and well-educated man who gets called in by the police department to help them with psychological elements of their homicide cases. Alex's best friend is an LAPD detective called Milo Sturgis, so he tends to get called in on a lot of these cases. Milo's an unusual character in that he's an openly gay cop. This was actually what intrigued me the first time I stumbled upon one of these novels. Milo plays a large part in all the books, and his lover ...

Billy Straight - Jonathan Kellerman

Premium Review Not an Alex Delaware novel (335 words)
by LukeCroll - written on 18/09/01 (Very useful, 69 readings)
Rating:

Kellerman has decided to depart from his normal Alex Delaware series, but is still sticking with police procedurals. The ex-wife of a TV star is found brutally stabbed to death, having previously revealed that her husband had beaten her up before. Suspicion is obviously going to fall on him, but the police do not want to repeat the OJ Simpson debacle. Forensic evidence finds a witness – 12 year old Billy Straight. When a reward is put out for him to come forward, only Detective Petra Connor realises that he is now up for the killer’s grabs as well. The fact that Alex Delaware only makes a guest appearance in this novel does nothing to detract from the quality ...

Premium Review His books get better (241 words)
by rachellenz - written on 14/02/01 (Very useful, 56 readings)
Rating:

I have been reading Kellermans books for a long time now, and have read most of them. The majority of his books are written about the child psychologist Alex Delaware. I have found all of these enjoyable and easy reading. ie the type of book that within seconds of reading you are into the story. However Kellerman has gone away from his normal characters and written about a new police detective in the book Billy Straight. I actually found this book had a stronger story line than his others. In this one he writes about a serial murderer but the person who deals with solving the crime is a female police detective, Petra. Part of the book is written from the view of ...
