Newest Review: ... fools, and constantly questions his superiors. While most of Connelly's books feature Bosch, he occasionally breaks off, as do most serial authors, and explores a different character or two. These include reporter Jack McEvoy in what I consider Connelly's best book, The Poet; former FBI agent Terry McCaleb, and lawyer Mickey Haller. What Connelly does cleverly is interweave his crime ... more |

4 or 5 years ago, I stumbled across a big book that contained the first three of Michael Connelly's books: The Black Echo, The Black Ice, & The Concrete Blonde. I gave them a go, and it was almost immediately after that I sought out his other books, so enthralled was I by his writing style and his characterisation. The main character in his books is Detective Hieronymus Bosch, or Harry for short (and yes, he's named after the famous painter). He is a LAPD detective, and much in the same vein as Rankin's Rebus in that he is a bit of a rebel. A maturing detective who used to be a tunnel rat in the Vietnam conflict, Bosch doesn't suffer fools, and constantly ... Read the complete review

Michael Connelly is one of my favourite authors and someone whose books have given me a great deal of pleasure over the years. He specialises in crime writing and his books ae fast paced with good character development and his plots have a number of twists and turns that help keep the reader engrossed. What I really like about Connelly is the consistency of his work, some authors seem to lose steam over time, almost as if they are writing to a pre set script, this seems to happen most often when they have a series of books with one central character, as if they have set the bar too high in early work and can never get back to the same ... I have long been a fan of the work of Michael Connelly as I particularly enjoy crime thrillers and Connelly is one of the best current day writers in this genre. Over the years Connelly has produced over 16 novels and his latest work The Lincoln Lawyer is due out in October of this year. Background Connelly produced his first novel in 1992 called The Black Echo and in it he introduced his main literary character Harry Bosch. The novel was an immediate success winning an Edgar Award for Best First Novel from the Crime Writers of America Association. Connelly used his previous career as a crime reporter for the Los Angeles Times to provide ... Read the complete review

Michael Conolly is one of the most original and best mystery writers I would say in the world. He offers a fresh new look at the word of mystery. His perspective on every seen are unlike any other writer I have read. It is obvious that months of research have gone in to ever novel. His language is so detailed and one can see how much effort Conolly puts into his books. I recommend this author to anyone that is in to mystery or just likes a good read. ...
