Harvest is one of the furthest away colony's, roughly one third the size of earth and produces food, the majority of it actions are overseen by two AI's called Sif and Mack. The colony is peaceful until they meet the aliens, the book introduces Staff Sergeant Avery J. Johnson who later appears in the games who is sent to Harvest to try and protect it from the alien attack.

Halo contact harvest is written by Joseph Staten and is a science fiction book based in the Halo universe around the games, it is set before the game series. Joseph Staten worked on the video games and helped write the story for them. It is the 5th book released in the Halo series although it was set first and was released in October 2007.
