Advantages: A fantastic book about the final fight between heaven and hell.

Disadvantages: None!

I am always on the lookout for the next "fantastic" book, with me getting through around 3-4 books a week on my quest!

I do have my favourites, vampires, bodice rippers and wartime romances to name but a few, though I can now add fallen angels to that list!

The book I will now review is - "Covet by J.R.Ward".

Jim Heron is a wanderer, he comes from a harsh military background (though no specifics have been mentioned, he seems to be a government employed assassin).

After a freak accident at work where he is electrocuted and effectively dies, he finds that he is back to full health with a new mission in life, to save the universe and end a time old battle between good and bad, heaven and hell.......no pressure then!

His mission (if he chooses to take it, which in fairness he has to or else the universe slips into nothingness) is to find the seven designate people who have been allocated to the competition, and once at their "crossroads" help them to choose the path for good rather than evil, will he rise to the challenge?

This was a really unusual book containing the best and worst of human nature, all rolled into a so called age old biblical fight off.

The character of Jim is a really complex individual, which (as the book explains) is the reason he is initially chosen for the task, one man/woman is chosen for the games, and has to contain exactly 50% good and 50% bad, Jim of course is the ideal candidate.

After a terribly tragedy in his youth, Jim finds his ideal job to reek revenge on the perpetrators, but gets caught up in the government ghost division, this explored very little in the book, but does give a general overview of his violent persona in the past.

He is helped on his way by two "fallen angels", who really have fallen.... A lot, actually getting into trouble for having a real penchant for beer and women, these Harley riding biker dudes are wonderful characters to read about, and gives you a completely different idea of so-called heaven!

Although he has had help allocated from above, he also has an enemy sent from below, a demon who has many tricks up her sleeve, and down her knickers too, he really will have a fight on his hands.

This was a really good book, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

I loved the main character of Jim and how he deals with his anger problems, and loved reading how he struggles to overcome his own personal demons, to try and overcome a real demon, it was fun, fast paced, and at times really gritty, all wrapped up in a black magic ribbon!

There is plenty of gore, violence and sex, so this is a book for the over 18's, with this over 18 (only just mind! Lol!), really enjoying the read!

This is the first in the series of "fallen angels" books, with there being (I assume anyway, as only the first of the seven people mentioned was dealt with in this book) at least seven more books in the series.

Price wise this will cost you around the £5.00 mark and is available via www.amazon.co.uk.
