Advantages: Lots of fun activities

Disadvantages: None

'Cowboy Things to Make and Do' is one of many in the make and do range designed by Usborne books. It is full of practical and enjoyable ideas for making all things cowboy!

Inside you will find instructions for making a Wild West wanted poster, a sherrif badge, a cowboy hat and a cowboy belt. Each fun activity has bright and colourful and simple instructions. There are also over 200 stickers that could be used for any activity within the ideas or for use in other activities at home.

The instructions are simple as they are broken down into small points, most are also have a diagram that helps to show what you need to do next. I would suggest that you have a read through the instructions first to ensure you have all the equipment and materials you need. The equipment you need would usually be found around the house, paint, glue, string and card (and old tea bags) are often required so hopefully you have some of these items in the art box. There are also some ideas that are different to the general cut and stick ideas you often find in these books, for example, the wild west wanted poster is made by staining paper with tea!

The book encourages children to develop their artistic skills as well. This includes developing drawing skills, giving guided instructions as to how draw the person or animal.

This book would be suitable for both boys and girls and would be recommended for ages 4+ years. I would add that teh younger the child is the greater teh supervision they will require.

The book is £4.99 and is published by Usborne books.

Summary: Make and do, creative, fun and exciting!
