tailsfin The Business - Martina Cole: ... discovering Martina Cole s books through a friends recommendation, I have now read the majority of her work, however, have seen in recent years that the storylines have all remained very similar. I decided to have a break from Ms Cole for a while and after watching the dramatisation of The Take, thought that I would give "The Business" a read. The storyline is very similar to other Martina Cole s wo...

Gemma_C Cold Granite - Stuart MacBride
... d wanted to read Stuart MacBride s series of books staring DS Logan McRae for a long time, and I can t believe I put it off for so long! The Author Stuart MacBride was born in Scotland moved to Aberdeen with his family when he was two years old. He flunked out of university but set up his own graphic design company, before being dragged into the world of the Internet, developing massive applications for the oil industry. He lives with his wife Fiona in Scotland, and it s easy to see that the step from web design to writing books was a simple one for him, as his books have been a massive success. His has won awards including winning the ITV3 Crime Thriller Award f...

cazkins Grave Secrets - Kathy Reichs
... picked this book up after reading the Tess Gerritsen novel, Keeping The Dead (which I ve recently reviewed to be highly recommended). On the front of that novel it said it would be as good as Kathy Reichs, or your money back. Having never heard of Reichs prior to this, but loving the thriller/crime genre at the moment, I decided to give this one a read. On the front it states this is The no.1 International Bestseller , and the blurb on the back made it sound like quite a harrowing story in terms of there being a sad series of events. It didn t sound like the typical crime thriller, and although I was slightly dubious at first, I m glad I read it. Grave Secrets introd...

Hishyeness The Lost Throne - Chris Kuzneski
... INTRODUCTION ~~~~~~~~~~~ It s been a while since I ve picked up a contemporary adventure thriller that was fresh, original, compelling and, above all, enjoyable to read. I had started losing faith in the genre given the recently pedestrian efforts of the likes of Dan Brown, Clive Cussler and Sam Bourne and was despairing of finding a worthy new flag bearer for this kind of story. Like some of the more scarcely believable plot developments used to drive the story in some of more formulaic drivel I have waded through recently, I found a ray of light in the most unlikely of places. Our son had just been born and my wife was to be kept in observation for at leas...
