Snow Falling on Cedars - David Guterson:
... Opinion: I had to read this book for school and my first thought was that there would be now way I was going to be able to read a 400+ book in two weeks. To my amazement, this book was awesome. It was just the type of book I would have read even outside of school. I had to read it fast and I skipped over a lot of it and was still able to understand the story completely. The author did a terrific job with the trial... Read the full review: Finally a Great Book by Tina1742 |

The Minds of Billy Milligan - Daniel Keyes ... fascinating and potent biographical story of how powerful our mind can be in finding ways to cope with intolerable circumstances. An intelligent young boy being subjected to horrific and intolerable abuse splits his mind to become not just two but over 20 different people within his own mind. We most of us have different personalities that show themselves at different times, when we are relaxed we behave differently from when we are under pressure for example, when we’ve had a drink we do things that we wouldn’t do sober – but still draw our own lines. Try and imagine how it would feel if those changes were to totally different people and each bit of your personalit... Read the full review: In two minds? No! In 17 plus minds by hecateh |

Vendetta - Michael Dibdin ... Having read the first Aurelio Zen novel, Ratking, a few months back, I was looking forward to getting to grips with the second one in the series. I’ve found certain books by Michael Dibdin to be disappointing in the past, but following a series of good reviews on this site and elsewhere, I was not disappointed by Ratking. Vendetta did not exactly dissatisfy, but it did not quite meet the high standards set for it by Ratking, which, considering the standard of Ratking, is not unsurprising. The plot Oscar Burolo, his wife and a couple visiting the Burolo’s security conscious farmhouse on the island of Sardinia were brutally gunned down by an unknown hand. The ... Doctored Evidence - Donna Leon ... Donna Leon is another author, like Michael Dibdin and Magdalen Nabb, who has spent time in Italy and has used her time there to her advantage and written a series of crime fiction novels. I’ve been meaning to pick up one of her novels for a while, because she has had good write-ups and got hold of this one, the eleventh in the series of books featuring Commissario Guido Brunetti. The author Donna Leon has lived and worked in Venice for over twenty years, where she teaches English literature at university. She has also lived abroad in China and the Middle East. She wrote her first Brunetti novel in 1992, which was inspired by a fake plan that she and a frien... Read the full review: Venetian violence by sunmeilan |
