samueltyler Nothing Like the Night - David Lawrence
... is a delicate balance that needs to be made when writing a series of crime novels. As an author sets out on their debut they look at the likes of Ian Rankin s Rebus series and hope to one day make as good a success. Rebus succeeds by having an in-depth and interesting central character, but also some great storylines. Therefore, any new author must balance character development with story. With too little character development a reader may not want to come back for more books, but is there a situation where the character can have too much involvement? i_am_joy Revelation - C.J. Sansom
... have just put down the best novel I have read in a long time. I have read other books in the Shardlake series, but I consider Revelation to be the best C. J. Sansom novel by far. Matthew Shardlake is a lawyer in the times of Henry VIII and longs for a quiet life away from court. The problem is that troublesome cases seem to follow Master Shardlake and with each novel he has become ever more closely embroiled with the fearsome King Henry, which is highly dangerous in the turbulent Tudor setting of this story. When Shardlakes good friend, a fellow lawyer called Roger, is found murdered with his throat cut he wants to know who wanted him dead and why in such a gruesom...

houndour Cold Moon - Jeffery Deaver
... you ever seen The Bone Collector with Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie? Well, Jeffery Deaver is the Author of the book and the characters Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are in The Cold Moon, another crime thriller from the Lincoln Rhyme (there are a fair few now and I d recommend them all). The way Deaver writes these books you could pick this one up without having read any of the other Rhyme novels, however i would recommend starting at the beginning which is The Bone Collector. I find Jeffery Deaver books very easy to read and pick up. He does tend to have many many twists, but I like that in a book. Keeps me guessing. The Cold Moon does not disappoint and...
