This is a true crime book unlike any other I’ve ever read. The book looks at the serial killings in the Mexican border town of Ciudad Juarez, murders which are continuing to pile up. Simon Whitechapel tackles the subject in his own inimitable style, a style that may well disappoint people expecting a traditional true crime book. As well as looking at the awful conditions endured by the young women of the city – who migrate there from all over Mexico to work in the giant US factories sited there to avoid paying decent wages and providing decent conditions, and who make up the victims of the killer or killers – he casts his eyes far and wide.
