Cuddly Dudley A lovely book- perfect for winter story telling. Dudley is a penguin who is so adorable that all his brothers and sisters just want to cuddle him. Dudley loves to jump, dive and splash, but mostly he loved to play without anyone else around...here we see a very contented looking Dudley floating in water surrounded by ice. However, because Dudley is such a "lovely cuddly penguin", when his siblings find him, they have to have a "huddle and a waddle and a cuddle" with him. This phrase is repeated every time we see the penguins wanting a cuddle, so children can very quickly say the words and anticipate ... Read the complete review

Cuddly Dudley is one of our grandson's favourite bedtime stories. He especially loves it when Grandad reads it with all his silly voices! It's written by the brilliant children's author Jez Alborough and retails for £5.99, with Amazon selling it for £4.49 at the moment. This cute little book tells the story of Dudley the penguin who is just too cuddly. All his brothers and sisters just can't resist giving him great big cuddles, and Dudley is fed up because he just wants to be alone. So off he goes in search of somewhere to be alone. There are loads of brilliant rhymes in this book, and the author makes great use of Onomatopoeia (yes I did have ... Read the complete review

***Background*** Jez Alborough not only writes this wonderful story but illustrates it too and has done so with a wide variety of books including his wonderful rhyming series about Duck and his lovable series about Bear. ***The Story*** This story starts with a penguin called Dudley who loves to play by himself. The problem is that he has lots of brothers and sisters who love to cuddle him and he rarely gets a chance to be alone. "'Go away,' Dudley would say. 'Leave me alone.' 'We can't," came the reply. 'You're just too cuddly, Dudley.' 'I'm fed up with all your huddling and waddling and ... Read the complete review

'Cuddly Dudley' by Jez Alborough is one of many lovely children's stories by this author. Usually what I like about Jez Alborough books is the rhyming but despite this book not being written in rhyme, it is still a lovely book to read. I guess the words 'cuddly Dudley' have a ring to them and make you want to open the pages and read on. Anyway, the story is about a penguin (Dudley) who has lots of friends and family. Dudley likes to play alone, swimming, diving, jumping and splashing but as he is soooo cuddly all his friends and family want to do is cuddle him. So Dudley goes in search of somewhere to be alone. By chance he comes across an empty house and ... Read the complete review
