Cutthroat is the third book in the Special X series written by a team of Canadian lawyers under the pseudonym of Michael Slade and shows no sign of letting up on the pace started with the first two novels, Head Hunter and Ghoul. This is the book whereby the two lead characters from the previous novels finally get to meet as Robert De Clerq takes over as head of the RCMP's Special X division- X standing for external; the task force is charged with investigating crimes beyond it's borders that share a Canadian connection- with Zinc Chandler as his lead investigator.
