Many moons ago, my sister and I inherited a box of books from our Great Aunt Babe. As the old dear had been a former English school mistress, the box included some of the greatest literary masterpieces ever written: The complete works of Shakespeare, The Children of the New Forest (Captain Marryat), Emma (Jane Austen), Little Women (Louisa May Alcott) and the Return of the Native (Thomas Hardy).
