Advantages: A great holiday read

Disadvantages: I want to live like them...please.

This book is the ultimate summer accessory for the beach with a fast and free flowing narrative with as much sex and scandal as you could ever manage.

The book is based on the adventures of four upper class sisters all career driven and desperate for success.

The eldest is Venetia, she is overly protective of her younger sisters after the death of their Mother. She is a interior designer to the stars but her private life is far from perfect stuck in a loveless marriage with a man she is with only to please her father. But Venetia world will be turned upside down when a man with a Spanish villa walks into her life and a fire rips it apart.

Cate is safe and secure as the editor of a leading magazine but when she is suddenly sacked, she decides to begin her own magazine with a high powered and shrewd business man and his friend. But when love blossoms, the only problem is he already has a girl and Cate doesn't want to be the other woman.

Camilla has soared to the top of her law profession but she wants more, much more. Turning her mind to a political career she pushes her boyfriend out and does her best to become a modern Tory MP.

The Youngest of the Balcon girls is Serena, a glamour puss actress, willing to step on everyone on her to that elusive Oscar nomination. But a boat trip in Egypt changes her life forever. From top shot to total social drop out, Serena is haunted by the patter of tiny feet, but how can she have a baby when it is what her sister always wanted but couldn't have ?

An insightful view into how the other half lives. From high powered parties to operas. From the death of (a few) family members to someone under suspicion of murder.

One for the beach, girls !

"the death of their Mother as a child" - the mother died when she was a child? Did she have children being still a child herself?
