Advantages: Entertaining, absorbing, a brilliant read, full of suspense and intrigue
Disadvantages: None
Mary Higgins Clark is by far one of my favourite authors to date. I have read a lot of her books and love each one that i have read. I saw an offer on recently with The Book People.
They were selling a set of ten Mary Higgins Clark novels for £9.99 with free delivery! I thought this was a total bargain and nearly jumped at the chance to buy it as i normally pay £6.99 just for one of her novels.
If you have never read Daddy's Little Girl, it is crime novel about a little girl called Ellie. When Ellie was just seven, her older sister Andrea was brutally murdered near their home.
Ellie found her sisters body on that tragic day and this lead to her killer being put behind bars for twenty two years.
He continually pleads his innocence but when he is released, Ellie stars to uncover new facts about her sisters death shedding a whole new and terrifying light on everything.
I wont give away too much more of the story incase i ruin it for you but i have to admit that i completely loved this book! It was brilliantly and intelligently written, really thrilling and edgy and full of suspense.
I am a bit of chicken when it comes to reading scary books but Mary Higgins Clark seems to be the queen of suspense and there were several very unpredictable moments in the book that completely shocked me.
I find myself starting to read one of her books with a hot chocolate beside me and find that hours have gone by and i have been completely absored in the story.
This book is brilliant, it isnt too scary which is good but more jumpy and full of shocks.
I could find myself willing Ellie to put the killer back in jail through the whole book and found her character to be very genuine and believeable.
Im sure i will end up reading this book a few more times as it is fantastic and i cant wait to read the rest of Mary Higgins Clarks collection. Well recommended!
Summary: Read it
