Roald Dahl was a famous children author, his books such as Georges marvellous medicine and Danny the champion of the world. Some people will say that Roald Dahl hated little children and tried to scare them through his stories such as in the BFG, Matilda, The Witches, Charlie and the chocolate factory and of course the Enormous Crocodile. Some of Roald Dahl's books have been made into films where you can visualise the stories where the characters are brought to life. His books have been translated into over 34 languages and are a must for all children to grow up with. There is a Roald Dahl treasury but the downside of this book is that is has many extracts of his books ... Read the complete review

When I was at university studying playwork, I carried out a survey of books read by children aged 7-14. The favourites by a long way were Roald Dahl books. Although this survey was quite small (25 children) it does appear to be quite representative of children's reading habits. A 1990's survey of 4,000 children, conducted by The Library Association, Roald Dahl was the most popular author with his books taking the top five places. Roald Dahl is also in the top six authors borrowed from public libraries. "Children of all ages seem to love Roald Dahl" (Bradman 1986). This was apparent with the young children mentioning Roald Dahl as much as the ... Read the complete review

Roald Dahl books , are usual humerous and well written! Often they are based round a child as one of the main charaters . Roald Dahl books are aimed at younger aged children , from around age 8-12 I would say . Roald Dahl books are very creatively written , they are written well and capture your attention from the moment you open the book! Roald Dahl has written many titles and many have been popular , one of his most popular titles , was of course Charlie and The Chocolate factory or Matilda and The Witches and James and the giant peach! we could go on for hours! so why not check out his books for yourself?! ... My favourite Roald Dahl book was The BFG and I still love it to this day. To me, Dahl took you away from boring normal life and showed you what kind of fun you could have. I first came across Roald Dahl when I was seven when my teacher read the class The Enormous Crocodile. I thought it was one of the coolest books ever and managed to get my mum to buy me the book before we had even finished reading it in school. That book taught me a trick, which at that age I thought was really neat: in one part of The Enormous Crocodile, the croc, which eats kids, lay in the fun fair on one of the rides and pretended to be a dummy crocodile that was part of the ride. He ... Read the complete review

I never really used to read a lot as a child but when I read a Roald Dahl book I could never put it down and had to finish it within the week. My parents told me off many times for staying up late reading his books. I found that he had a wild imagination and I think it helped to develop my imagination more and make me more creative. I would definately recommend any one of his books to both children and adults! My brother and both my parents were also great fans of his and I managed to persuade them to read his books too. ...
