Advantages: Him.
Disadvantages: Eh??
Roald Dahl was born in 1916 in Wales of Norwegian parents. He was educated in England before starting work for the Shell oil company in Africa. He began writing after a 'monumental bash on the head' sustained as a RAF fighter pilot during the Second World War. Roald Dahl is one of the most successful and well known of all children's writers. Children all over the world read his books. Throughout Roald Dahl’s time, this fine collection of books, and when I say 'fine collection' I do sincerely mean FINE COLLECTION. It has grown and grew into so many amazing things. Unfortunately, these books had to stop in the year 1990, when Roald Dahl unfortunately passed away at the age of seventy-four. QUENTIN BLAKE HIS ILLUSTRATOR Quentin Blake was born in the suburbs of London in 1932. He read English at Cambridge, and did a postgraduate certificate in education at London University. From 1949 he worked as a cartoonist for many magazines, most notably The Spectator and Punch. He moved into Children's book illustration where his
inimitable style has won him enormous acclaim. Alongside this he has pursued a teaching career: he was head of the illustration department at the Royal College of Art and is now visiting Professor. Quentin Blake was awarded the OBE in 1988. Indeed, two very successful men. I find them both to be superior. I assume that you ALL agree with me. JK Rowling, you’re hardly anything compared to these great minds. Sorry. ***UPDATION*** From a view of my comment, I have to update this. Roald Dahl's books have been translated into over 20 different languages like JRR Tolkien. His books are most incredible and amazing. Everybody has to agree. His mind and imagination must have had to work overtime for him to think of all these amazing books. And yes, I did find the bibliography of one of Roald Dahl's books, because it would have been stupid to mention about 6 books instead of doing the whole thing!!!! My sister, Hayley, thrives on the books and I do as a matter of fact. He had to be one of the most famous authors of all time. His knowledge of writing must have been beyond anybody else’s. The theme of his books is really hard to say. You can't really place one particular theme to them. They are sort of combined with a mixture. When I am reading his books, they make me feel really comfortable so to speak. I really enjoy reading them. They are most suitable for all generations. As you can tell from the little subheadings I have put into the bibliography. The illustrations are fantabulous. I'm just speechless. He is not using too much detail, just basic drawings that everybody will find amusing. (I've corrected all of the typos. Sorry.)

- 19/02/02 When i was younger i collected almost all his books and read every single one you listed apart form the older reader ones. I even attended Roald Dahl club at the library. His imagination and sense of fun is ideal for kids and i always thought the illustration suited the books very well. Great opinion. |

- 22/01/02 Interesting op that has a lot of enthusiasm to it, but still a little low on detail about why you like his writing and what your favourite books are. I always thought he wrote more books than that but maybe it's because I've read them so many things it seems like more! |

- 22/01/02 11 years? I can't believe it! Don't despair, when I was your age, I didn't have a crown, either. (But there was no dooyoo then, heehee) Keep going! Cheers, Malu |
